Imagine This Senior Project Team:.

Team member 1

Guy Singleton: Managing Director

Guy is a fully qualified registered electrical and electronics engineer. He has been involved with CEDIA for over 15 years and has volunteered for many CEDIA initiatives throughout that time.

Guy currently resides on the CEDIA EMEA standards council, as well as many of the technical councils and white paper groups. He teaches & lectures internationally, on CEDIA’s behalf, and has presented as far afield as India, United States and Holland. Guy is a subject matter expert for CEDIA’s education council, specialising in lighting, HVAC and home theatre design. He is also a qualified ISF instructor.

In recent years, Guy has been involved with the IET’s (Institute of Engineering Technology’s) new standards document for “low voltage DC distribution” in the home (LVDC 2.4 Technical Committee). Guy’s electrical expertise and vast experience of custom install made him highly respected as a technical contributor to the standards document.

Guy has steered his UK custom install company, “Imagine This”, to international recognition; wining CEDIA, Crestron and other Industry awards.  His portfolio of projects includes CEDIA award winning large-scale cinema builds and home automation projects for major film directors, rock stars and royal dignitaries.

Guy spent a period consulting for Crestron UK, where he headed up their EMEA lighting and HVAC division. During this time, he was highly valued for his knowledge, experience and technical problem solving capabilities.

CEDIA AWARDS

CEDIA award

In 2016 Guy Singleton was presented with the prestigious ‘Special Recognition’ award from CEDIA EMEA for services to CEDIA and the industry as a whole.

The introduction onto stage by the CEDIA EMEA Chairman follows:

This category recognises the outstanding contribution of individuals to the work of CEDIA along with growth of the industry.

Tonight’s winner is someone who joined CEDIA in 2001.

In his fifteen years as a member, he has given hundreds of volunteer hours to CEDIA, working to develop industry recognised standards and share his extensive knowledge with others.

Most recently, he has acted as CEDIA’s representative as a technical expert in drawing up a new Code of Practice for Low and Extra Low Voltage Direct Current Power Distribution in Buildings – possibly the longest name for any standard!
On this project alone, he has racked up over 300 man hours of his time to ensure that the right standard is put in place, not for his own interest, nor for CEDIA’s, but because it is what needs to be done to encourage best practice in the industry.

We will all benefit from his selflessness.

Over the years, he has served on the CEDIA Education Committee and taught as a CEDIA Instructor on CEDIA’s behalf, presenting as an instructor both in the UK, and further afield in Europe and India and imminently in America as part of the education programme at CEDIA Dallas and as a judge on the CEDIA US Awards.

Throughout his volunteer work, this man carries himself with great humility. He will probably hate the fact that he is coming on stage in front of this huge audience to accept our thanks and acclaim; we cannot deny it is very well deserved!
So, please join with me to do more than just imagine this – and welcome onto stage…

Guy Singleton

Guy has also been chosen to judge the US CEDIA awards, ASIAN awards and ultimately the global awards.

More recently Guy invented and owns the patent on a home theatre design software called “The Cinema Designer” which is used throughout the industry at large.
